How to Get a Behind-the-Scenes look at Houston’s New Aquarium, Before it Opens

May 07, 2021

Harrington Aquarium

The new Houston Interactive Aquarium and Animal Preserve will be opening on May 10th. It is located at 5440 N. Sam Houston Parkway E., in Humble.

What makes this new aquarium fun and different is that it offers interactive experiences where guests can actually feed and touch the animals. Visitors will be able to do incredible things like snorkel with sharks and stingrays, and they’ll even have exhibits where you can do things like feed giraffes.

Yes, you got it! What makes this location even more incredible is that it also has exhibits for land animals as well. The new aquarium will also feature exhibits and habitats with:

  • Sloths.
  • Lemurs.
  • Kangaroos.
  • Exotic birds.
  • And more.

The Cobino family (owners and operators of 11 other aquariums across the nation) set out to make this new location a fully immersive and engaging learning experience. It is difficult to connect with animals through a foot of thick glass, but when you can get up close with the animals, it fosters a deeper connection and understanding.

Though construction has been delayed on the 5-acre zoo due to rising costs in construction materials, they are thrilled to open to the community this May. When construction is completed, the location will feature:

  • A full marine building.
  • A mammals and reptiles building and exhibit.
  • An outdoor aviary with hundreds of species of birds.
  • An adventure course.
  • A gift shop.
  • Exotic animal enclosures.
  • An arcade.
  • A bounce house.
  • And a food and concessions area.

Ticket prices for children are $14.95 and adult ticket prices are $19.95. Zoo entry is free for age children ages 2 and under. They will also offering annual season passes.
